. . .from an OAR participant today.
She’s given us permission to put it online:
I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratefulness for the Open Art Room at Waterfall Arts in Belfast, Maine. I am a fairly new resident to Belfast and the OAR has been a Godsend to me. I try to arrange my schedule every week to allow me to attend the classes as often as I possibly can.
I especially like the sense of community I feel there; given the diversity of multi-generational folks who come fairly regularly. We have seniors, mid-aged folks, sometimes youngsters, teenagers, and some delightful young people from the community who attend with their OIE personnel.
I have met some really delightful people, feel like we are all making new friends and am so comfortable to be able to attend this community resource.
I have learned so much from you, Julie, and you are a breath of fresh air, not to mention so knowledgeable in the art field–always willing to give us guidance, lessons or even just encouragement.
I would really support some sort of compensation for your wonderful sharing of your expertise to all of us who attend the Open Art Room. I feel more space would be beneficial to this community jewel, and there seems to always be a need for additional supplies.
I just really wanted to express my thankfulness for this wonderful community resource here in Belfast and let you know how important it is to my life as a retired senior citizen on a fixed income.
Lynda has been a regular in the studio since the beginning of the year. She’s does lovely watercolors, has gotten really into coloring, and recently got stung by the needle felting bug. I think we all appreciate her open smile and enthusiasm as much as she appreciates us. Thank you, Lynda, for your heartfelt letter!
